Comparative Diagnostic Accuracy of YOLOv11 and YOLOv26 Models for the Detection of Interproximal Caries Using Bitewing Radiographs
Summary of the necessity of conducting the project
Interproximal caries are among the most challenging dental lesions to detect at an early stage, while bitewing radiography is considered the gold standard for their diagnosis. In recent years, different versions of the YOLO model have been applied to the detection of various dental caries in radiographic images. However, to date, no independent study has specifically compared the performance of YOLOv11 and YOLOv26 in detecting interproximal caries. Therefore, this study aims to design and validate two models based on YOLOv11 and YOLOv26 and to compare their performance in terms of Precision, Recall, and F1-score.Principal Investigator: Dr. Farzaneh Mosaavat
