Craniomaxillofacial Research Center

Fabrication of poly (ε-caprolactone)-hydroxyapatite scaffolds containing dexamethasone-loaded microparticles and adipose mesenchymal stem cells by 3D bioprinting for craniomaxillofacial bones repair

Summary of the necessity of the plan

Implementation Bone is usually known for its ability to regenerate itself, but extensive bone defects caused by tumor removal, infection, and fractures resulting from trauma are not able to heal completely by themselves, and in many cases, external intervention is needed to regenerate new bone. to restore and improve its performance (1). Complex fractures of the zygomatic-orbital bone are among the most common facial traumas. The repair of complex fractures of the zygomatic-orbital bone is usually a challenge for surgeons due to the lack of an occlusal guide and the involvement of different structures of the middle third of the face. In cases of damage to this area, severe cosmetic and functional consequences such as enophthalmos (sunken eye), diplopia and dystopia (double vision) can occur as a result of swelling of the orbital cavity due to fracture of the orbital floor and herniation of the eye contents. It is to the maxillary sinus.
