Assessment of the Prevalence and Treatment Course of Maxillofacial Pathological Lesions in Children Referred to the Children’s Medical Center Between 2016 and 2023
Summary of the Project Implementation Necessity
The Children's Medical Center is a major healthcare facility in Iran, where pediatric patients from across the country are referred for diagnosis and treatment of various conditions. A significant portion of the patients visiting the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at this hospital suffer from specific diseases in these regions, making timely diagnosis and treatment critically important. Given the infrequent visits of such patients to typical dental clinics and the likely high referral rate to this center, it is essential that organized and categorized data on the prevalence and treatment outcomes of these cases—based on the type of treatment received—be made available to the hospital and surgeons. This can serve as a valuable source of statistics regarding the distribution of head and neck pathological conditions in the country. Moreover, organizing this information within a customizable and updatable system and making it accessible to the hospital would ensure that, by entering new data related to future patients, categorized and structured information on the referrals to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the Children's Medical Center will always be available. This can support future interventional studies and research.
