Investigating the effect of the presence of implant on mandibular fracture following trauma: a finite element study

Necessity of Project Implementation

Mandibular fractures are among the most common types of facial bone fractures, particularly resulting from trauma. The presence of dental implants may alter the strength and stability of the mandibular bone against impacts and stresses caused by trauma. Considering the increasing use of dental implants for tooth restoration and their potential effects on bone structure, a precise investigation of how implants influence the resistance and distribution of forces applied to the mandible is essential. Utilizing the finite element analysis method as an advanced computational tool enables accurate simulations without the need for invasive testing. The findings of this study can assist maxillofacial surgeons, dentists, and other related professionals in making better decisions regarding implant treatment plans and the management of mandibular fractures.
