Investigating the effect of ambient air pollutants on Oral lichen Planus
Summary of the necessity of project implementation
Autoimmune diseases include a wide range of diseases in which both genetic and environmental risk factors play a role in its development and progression. Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the oral mucosa that can lead to malignancy. Exposure to air pollution can affect the body's immune system by increasing autoimmune responses and increasing systemic inflammation. Many studies have been conducted on the mechanisms of air pollution's effect on the immune-inflammatory system of the body on several diseases. Since air pollution is currently the most important environmental problem in Tehran, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between types of lichen planus and the density of parasites in Tehran. Therefore, determining the environmental risk factors related to this disease can be useful in preventing and controlling this disease and will help urban planners in prioritizing different areas of Tehran city in terms of implementing mitigation measures, especially during critical air pollution conditions.
