The effect of Facial Yoga on the Temporomandibular Disorders
Summary of the necessity of project implementation
Temporomandibular disorders are a set of clinical problems that involve masticatory muscles, temporomandibular joint, related structures, or both, and are the second most common cause of people visiting dental offices after toothaches. TMJDs are the most common chronic oral and facial pain conditions and are often compared to neck pain, back pain, and headaches. This is due to the severity, persistence and underlying psychological effects of such pain on patients. The characteristics of these disorders are: facial pain in the TMJ area or masticatory muscles, limitation or deviation of jaw movement and sound during jaw movement. The effective treatment of such disorders depends on removing the causes that cause malfunction of the temporomandibular joint, as well as direct intervention in the muscular system in order to restore its physiological tension and tension and reduce the patient's pain. Clinicians and researchers also emphasize the importance of providing conservative treatment before introducing irreversible procedures. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of facial yoga as a conservative treatment method in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders.
